Whether you’re learning to love running or lining up to compete, we start by getting to know you.

04 / MEET YOUR COACH

Stephen Pretak.

I’ve been running since 2000, from high school and college competition to trail and ultra racing. I ran my first ultramarathon in 2017, and I now coach runners ranging from those just getting started to competitive trail and ultra athletes.

What I enjoy about coaching is getting to know the person behind the training: what you’re excited about, what concerns you, and how running fits into everything else you have going on.

Outside of running, I’ve worked in Onboarding, Enablement, and Customer Experience. This experience has taught me how to listen, explain things clearly, and help people make progress without feeling overwhelmed. Those skills are a big part of how I coach.

I’m also a parent, husband, and runner balancing work, commuting, family life, and a household with two runners. I understand that training rarely happens under perfect conditions. Good coaching accounts for the ebbs and flows of life and helps you keep moving forward when plans need to change.

I want my athletes to improve and pursue meaningful goals while building a relationship with running that lasts.
